Portorož is the centre of a long tourist tradition, as it was known as a spa resort already in the 13th century. In 1830, the first spa hotel was built here, and gradually other tourists began to visit Portorož, in addition to the spa hotel guests. This is how Portorož became a modern tourist destination even before the First World War. Today, Portorož is a modern tourist centre that attracts guests from all over the world with its hospitality and rich offer.
